I was very excited to learn that two creative independent games that I posted about here are finalists in the 2008 Independent Games Festival. Both World of Goo and Crayon Physics Deluxe were nominated for the Seumas McNally Grand Prize. The other Seumas McNally Grand Prize finalists are Audiosurf, Hammerfall, and Noitu Love 2: Devolution. In addition, World of Goo has been nominated for the Design Innovation Award and for Technical Excellence.
Particularly since Petri Purho posted this on his Kloonigames blog, I’ve been anxious to see how it turns out. It has quite a bit of promise, in my opinion, and it’s great to see it doing well at IGF. World of Goo looks to have a great, silly fun in it, loaded with creativity. Hopefully both of these games will do well when the winners are announced.
