Last weekend, I participated in Ludum Dare 14, an online competition in which developers make a game in 48 hours. The end result of the voting for the theme for LD14 was “Advancing Wall of Doom.” After a weekend of chaos and questionable sleeping habits, a record 121 games were submitted, and voting is now underway. My game was called Stormwall. Basically, the player destroys or avoids landmines while racing in a hovercraft vehicle away from a violent and rapidly advancing wind/dust storm.
Windows and Linux binaries are available here. As much as I have heard of it, the response has been largely positive, though I have yet to see the final results, which will be available after the two weeks of participants voting on each other’s projects. I will post my results here when I get them.

hey! nice dust effect. Can you share how you achieve it?

Sure. I coded a quick particle system, just enough to support the essentials, like color and lifetime settings, and fading over time. After that, it was simply a matter of constantly creating new particles with varying position, velocity, size and color near the bottom of the screen.
